Colca Canyon and Mummy Cemetry


Colca canyon has condor birds flying on thermal currents. 3m wing span. We had to wait 1 hour to see one bird so it was a good chance to take a couple of pictures to show how high up the canyon actually is. The bus that drove us there drove on a road with a sheer cliff drop to one side - quite nerve racking and I didnt really stare out the window that much!

These mummies are from over a thousand years ago. They have been preservewd well by being dried out in the sun. Many of the tombs surronding them have already played victim to tomb robbers... The hair on these women was in dreads and 2-3m long.
